Tom Luddy: Movie Picks

Last weekend, the “Witness to War: Documentary Perspectives World War II to Iraq” was programmed by the inestimable and reliable Tom Luddy. He has had a long and varied career in the business that has, in part, resulted in him producing eleven movies. He also started the Telluride Film Festival thirty-three years ago, with Bill and Stella Pence, who retired in 2006. The festival is now run by Luddy, along with Gary Meyer.

Correction: Luddy oversaw the exhibition of the restored “Napolean” not the restoration.

Very much enjoying Lucy’s podcasts — not only the insights and the portraits of people, but also admiring Lucy’s skill in presenting in this form.

What a tasty morsel of film biography regarding a true industry powerhouse — one not broadly recognized or overexposed!!! Hopefully we’ll see more like this. Also, maybe Tom could discuss next year’s Telluride selections.

  3. A dear tribute to a ‘what can you do with those artists,’ kind of guy. Recognizing Tom’s continual role in the film community is long overdue. Thank you. MAM

One always hears about the great Tom Luddy. His name seems to pop up everywhere something interesting in film is going on. But I had no idea of the extent of his dedicated influence. Thank you for bringing him alive with these personal anecdotes.
